What Is Virasure-Koi
|

Virasure-Koi is a uniquely formulated highly virucidal disinfectant for use with Koi Carp (Nishikigoi) and other aquatic species such as Orf or Sturgeon. Virasure-Koi has the best efficacy of any known disinfectant for this purpose and has become the leading choice for Koi hobbyists, Koi Professionals such as Breeders and Dealers and Top Fish Veterinarians alike.
Virasure is approved by Defra for control of notifiable diseases such as Infectious Salmon Anaemia and many more. (see separate data sheet)
Virasure-Koi is the most modern disinfectant available and has at least 25 years on any other products in this category, in that time there has been huge advancements in science and biosecurity. Virasure-Koi is the most up to date advanced disinfectant in the world.

Vaccination

This document provides information as to how to use Virasure-Koi as Biosecurity for Vaccination.
Vaccination is the time when a Koi is at the highest risk of infection, it is not unusall for an infection caught during vaccination procedures to infect all other koi in the pond.
Vaccination always leads to a displacement in the Koi’s own mucus immune defence system and the penetrating needle can also carry infection easily from the last treatment directly into the other Koi.
Vaccination is a stressful time for the Koi.
Vaccination equipment can be used across many sites and a number of times therefore carrying a huge cross infection risk.
Mortality rates are high from vaccination especially during the summer period when temperatures are more substantial.
Things that must be considered
Personal biosecurity by use of Virasure-Koi Foamer, helps protect the fish mucus.
Continually disinfect all surfaces by spraying with the Virasure-Koi Spray.
Regularly disinfect all needles and vaccination equipment by dipping in the solution.
People
Dips for shoes and any waterproof clothing should be sprayed including gloves after each vaccination.
Virasure-Koi Hand Sanitising Foamers should be used.
Equipment and Surfaces
Nets should be thoroughly sprayed or dipped at regular intervals or after each vaccination.
Water Conditioning
You should also condition your pond as the standard dose of Virasure-Koi to help protect against cross infection and to help the Koi’s immune system to recover quicker.

Solution Dips

Footbaths, Wheeldips and Equipment Dips
All of the content of this data sheet is designed to try and help you get the most out of using Virasure-Koi and provides further information as to how it can be used
Making up Virasure-Koi for footdips, Koi-Equipment Dips and Wheeldips.
- The amount of Water in your Dip (this will be either written on the side of the dip or you will have to calculate it)
- Without this figure you cannot get the correct dosage rate to use Virasure-Koi, too little Virasure-koi will not do what it is intended to do, too much is a waste.
- Tap water is advised for use, as saline water will speed up reaction times and mean that you will need to top up quicker.
- Make up the solution in a smaller quantity first and make sure Virasure-Koi is fully dissolved, to dissolve quicker you can agitate with a clean impliment, as any residue means that the strength is not correct, then pour this solution into your dip, this will ensure consistency.
It is suggested that clean surfaces will mean that the product is more effective, therefore clean off any debris before dipping boots or equipment.
Please dip your foot ware or your equipment for 30 seconds or more in order to be most effective.
The dip will last for up to four days.
Please use correct signage for your dip to ensure it is not bypassed.
eg. BIOSECURITY NOTICE :
Remove Debris, then dip your equipment for 30 seconds.
Rinse before restocking the dip.
Dosage 200g per 20 litres of solution required. (100g per 10 litres)
